Resources For ParentsPeace of Mind Parent Coaching recommends a number of helpful resources for parents: Books"The Price of Privilege" by Madeline Levine, PhD. In this powerful and eyeopening book, Levine discusses how: "In spite of the economic and social advantages of preteens and teens from affluent, well-educated families, they experience among the highest rates of depression, substance abuse and anxiety disorders of any group of children in this country".
By "privilege" Levine does not mean only wealthy families. The issues discussed in the book apply to any family whose children enjoy a number of material comforts, good schools and social opportunities. This book is a great resource to have when your children are young as Levine offers, along with her sobering statistics, sound and practical advice for helping your child develop coping skills, confidence and self-direction as they grow and face life's challenges.
