What Is A Parent Coach?

  • A parent coach helps parents move forward in the most important job they will ever have: raising their children. The Peace of Mind Parent Coaching Program is available both in person or over the phone to support parents every step of the way.

  • Purple jungle flowerMany parents worry that their child's behavior is not "normal". A parent coach can help parents understand the range of "normal" behaviors.

  • A parent coach can help parents look at things from a fresh perspective. Parent coaching helps parents connect with their children A strong parent/child connection fosters resilience, confidence and the ability to learn and grow from mistakes. These traits are critical to the development of a healthy inner self.

  • A parent coach helps parents see how patterns from their own childhood are repeated.

  • A parent coach does not diagnose or analyze the past. They focus on the present and future.

  • The role of a parent coach is not to fix, cure or change a child. Rather through coaching sessions, a coach offers practical tools and alternative perspectives which can help parents then help their child. Coaching teaches parents how to respond to old situations in new ways.

  • A parent coach is not a psychologist or therapist. A parent coach usually comes with a background in education, coach training and/or child development. A parent coach also works with parents not facing any particular challenge but who simply wish to become the best parent they can be.

  • Children learn what they live. If a parent's life is out of kilter, so is theirs. A parent coach helps look at aspects of a parent's life calling for attention. When a parent attends to those parts their children benefit.

Suzy is available in her Connecticut office or for phone sessions from anywhere. Contact Peace of Mind Parent Coaching to schedule a free in person or phone consultation.

Introducing The "Coaching Sampler"

Hard economic times do not have to mean that parents must postpone or go without support. Also, not all parenting concerns require the full four sessions of coaching; and returning parents often feel the need to simply check in when things get complicated.

For these reasons, in addition to my regular parenting coaching package I am offering a coaching sampler program. Click here for more information on my latest, reasonably priced coaching sampler offer.

Support For Parents

Just about every parent strives to do their best when it comes to raising their children.  Regardless, parenting presents numerous and complex challenges. Even in the best of times emotions run high, personalities and interests conflict, societal pressures abound and ghosts from our own childhood creep in.

Inundated with advice from books, television, the INTERNET and well-meaning friends, it is not uncommon to feel overwhelmed. It may be difficult to remember that there is no one ideal solution. What works for one family may not necessarily work for another.

The majority of parenting concerns and conflicts do not require treatment from a mental health specialist. They may however, benefit from support, encouragement and guidance from an objective and trained professional. So often parents simply desire practical tools and realistic solutions for the challenges they face. Common complaints from parents include: feeling stuck, unsure if what they are doing is appropriate, inconsistent parenting, and the worry that they are simply doing a bad job.

The dictionary defines coach as: someone who assists people to develop their capability. A parent coach can offer useful and doable solutions to most parenting issues while helping parents fully develop their parenting capability.

Parents can call Peace of Mind Parent Coaching from anywhere as Suzy offers tele-coaching sessions in addition to in person sessions in her Connecticut office.
